Share a Site With the People Who Run It

Until now, you could only invite someone to see one site’s analytics. That covered the client who wants the numbers. It didn’t cover the developer who builds the site, or the business partner who pays for it.

You can now share a site at three levels, and change anyone’s level later.

Three ways to share

In the site’s Settings, open Sharing, pick a level and enter an email address.

• Analytics only: the site’s figures and nothing else, the same access as before.
• Manager: deployments, settings, domains, forms and bookings, plus the build settings and secrets that come with them. A manager can’t see or change billing, turn paid features on or off, delete the site, or share it with anyone else.
• Owner: everything you can do, including billing and sharing. A site can have more than one.

Whatever the level, nobody you invite can see your other sites. They don’t need an account first, because the email link creates a free one for anyone new to us.

A manager or owner can deploy to your site. That’s why their invitation links expire after 48 hours, while analytics links still last 7 days.

Change someone’s access

Every person on the Sharing list has a dropdown next to their name. Promote a colleague from analytics to manager when they start looking after the site, or move a former partner down to analytics when they step back. It applies straight away, and we email them to say what they can now do.

Removing someone takes effect on their next page load.

The person who created the site stays an owner. Nobody can change or remove them.

Who pays when a site has several owners

Any owner can pay for Analytics Plus, Forms Plus or Bookings Plus on a shared site, and whoever pays gets the receipts.

So that two owners don’t pay for the same thing, Settings now has a Billing section listing every paid feature on the site and who pays for it.

When a different owner should take over, they press “Pay with my card instead” and enter their card. Nothing is charged that day. The first payment comes out when the period already paid for runs out, and the previous owner stops paying as soon as the new card is saved. Already paying and want to use another card? The same button reads “Use a different card”.

What to do

Nothing changes for anyone you’ve already shared analytics with. To bring in someone new, or change what an existing person can do, go to Settings and open Sharing.
